A Snowfocus ski holiday is about so much more than just skiing. Yes, improving skiing is a primary aim but many many skills are developed and nuturred throughout the week.
Often our groups of children don't know each other at the beginning of the holiday, but by the end strong friendships are built and social skills developed. Pen pal relationships form and sometimes people plan to come back year on year to see the same skiing buddies they have learnt with.
Independence is very much a focus of the holiday. Not only do children have a fun and adventurous time in their lessons but they are also strongly encouraged to take care of and responsibility for their own ski kit.The ski nannies are always around to make sure things end up in the right place, but don't be surprised if your 5 year old chastises you for not hanging soggy gloves on a radiator overnight.
Thanks to our small groups a sense of teamwork and belonging helps the children to work together to improve their skiing skills. This also encourages resilience and a sense of determination as the children love to stick with their group through thick and thin. This week's guests have skied through cloud, snow, sunshine and some occasionally icy conditions but have stuck together and had a wonderful time on the slopes. The sense of achievement when earning a new ski medal at the end of a week is a joy to watch, as is the smiles on everybody's faces as they get to show off their new skills.
