Mum and Me, Dad and Me
Helen Trayfoot designed and runs these courses on selected weeks throughout the season.
Now in its second year, the Mum and Me programme has been hugely successful in not just teaching young children to ski, but in giving their parents the confidence and skills to ski safely with them.
You wil learn the how to support you children to become more independent in their skiing as well as the correct language and phrases to use to help them to develop their skills.
Parents stay with their children for the two hour morning session before handing the children back to the nannies for lunch at the chalet and an afternoon of fun. The parents are then free to enjoy the rest of the day's skiing and a delicious mountain lunch.

Helen Trayfoot: Profile
"Hi there, it’s great to be able to develop my program with Sue and AT and the Snowfocus Team. I am really excited to be working with such positive people who really care about what they do! Historically we have always told the parents to go away and leave the children to their instructor, which is not a bad way to work as the parents get a break! However over the years I have found that especially working with a small group of (no more than 4 in the group at this age ) that little children really benefit from having a parent with them especially for the first few sessions and that parents really enjoy helping their children to ski and learning the ‘dos and don’ts!' The seed of this idea was planted in my head many years ago when I worked at the resort of Smugglers Notch Vermont, in the States, one of the top children's ski schools in the world, where they looked at children s skiing needs and developmental stages closely and came up with the first ‘Mum and ME’ program. The great thing about booking with Snowfocus is that the parents still get a bit of space and children free time, as they run such a superb nanny service, as well as having the opportunity to ski and learn with their children. Quality time for everyone! I will guide you as a parent in what to expect and how to ski with your children, safely while having fun. I will show you how to get on and off lifts safely and generally help you to feel confident that you are doing the right things with your little ones. I will show you how to use teaching aids like an ‘edgy wedgy’ and a ski stick to help your child move confidently and in balance on the terrain appropriate for their size and needs. If you have small children its great to take advantage of skiing out of the peak holiday times, when the slopes are quieter and the costs a little lower. Do think about booking early to avoid disappointment as our sessions are kept to 4 small children."
